REMEMBERING CRISPIN WEBB THROUGH HIS ARTWORK

A variety of works by Crispin Webb (1977-2006) will be on view at Root Art Center in downtown Mount Vernon for the month of Nov. An opening reception will be held Fri., Nov. 2nd, 6-10 p.m. The show pays tribute to the abundant works created by Crispin in his lifetime. At age 28, Webb died of heart failure in his mother's home in WV. This show is a way of celebrating his life.

Webb's work represents an intense will to create, to use life as his art, to find art everywhere in his life. The works vary in size and span a whole gamut of media. Many pieces combine outside interaction with visual elements. Webb focused much of his attention on interaction of some kind or another. Most, if not all, of the pieces use found objects in some capacity, pointing back to the idea that art is life.

Webb grew up in Cross Lanes, WV with his mother, Kay Webb, and sister. He attended MVNU and graduated in 2002 with a BA in Fine Art. Deciding to continue his study of art, he attended Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York and graduated in 2006 with his first MFA. Since the program at Bard was held during the summer months only, Webb applied to and was accepted into OSU's MFA program. During his studies in Columbus, Webb was involved in many different communities in and around the OSU campus. He is missed and remembered by so many.

The opening reception to celebrate Crispin's life and work will be this Fri., Nov. 2nd from 6-10 p.m. at Root Art Center in downtown Mount Vernon. For more information and directions, call 740-326-3126 or e-mail Root Art Center at rootartcenter@gmail.com.
